What's involved
A garage floor cops more than any other slab at home. Hot tyres, oil drips, trolley jacks, whatever gets walked in off the driveway. Bare concrete soaks all of that up and dusts over time. A flake system turns it into one sealed surface that stays put and sweeps clean.
Every garage starts with a diamond grind, so the coating is bonding to open concrete rather than the smooth top skin or whatever sealer the builder left behind. Cracks and joints get repaired, then the base coat goes down, flake is broadcast right across it, and the floor is scraped back and topcoated. Single garages, doubles and home workshops all get the same system, finished off at the edges and along the step down to the driveway.

Look and quote
Hagan checks the slab, measures up and looks for cracks, damp patches and old coatings before quoting.

Diamond grind
The whole floor is ground back to open concrete so the coating has something to hold onto.

Repairs
Cracks, chipped edges and joints are repaired so they don't show through the finished floor.

Base coat and flake
The base coat goes down and flake is broadcast across it, wall to wall, in the blend you picked.

Scrape back and topcoat
Loose flake is scraped back and a clear topcoat seals the lot.

01Do I need to empty the garage before an epoxy floor goes down?
Yes. The whole floor needs to be clear, including shelving and anything else sitting on the slab, so it can be ground and coated edge to edge.
Ask Hagan when you book how long the floor needs before things can go back in, so you can plan where the car and the storage will live in the meantime.
02What flake colour hides dirt best in a garage?
Mid-tone blends with a mix of light and dark flake hide tyre marks and dust better than very light or very dark floors.
Both garages on this page are grey and white blends. Look at samples in your own garage light before you decide, because the same blend reads differently in a bright garage and a dim one.
03Can the edges and the step down to the driveway be finished too?
Yes. The edges and the step are part of the job, not an afterthought.
The double garage in the first before and after on this page has a clean white edge line running along the step where the garage meets the driveway.
04Can I run a workshop on an epoxy garage floor?
Yes. A workshop is one of the best reasons to coat a garage, because oil, grease and swarf sit on top of a sealed floor instead of soaking in.
If you work with anything unusually heavy or hot, like welding gear or engine stands, mention it at the quote so the floor suits how you use it.
