What's involved
A driveway sits in full sun, gets rained on, has cars turning on it every day and wears everything the street throws at it. That's why an outdoor coating is a different thing to a garage floor: the finish is textured for grip and the topcoat is UV stable, so it doesn't yellow or go chalky in the sun.
Plenty of Coast driveways start out as faded red or painted concrete. That old colour coat gets ground back so the new system bonds to the slab underneath, then flake goes down over the lot. Paths, side access and the strip out to the footpath can all be done in the same finish so the whole front of the house matches.

Old paint, colour coats and surface staining are ground back to sound concrete.

Base coat down and flake broadcast right across the driveway and paths.

01What happens to the old red colour on my driveway?
It gets ground back and then completely covered. The old colour coat is ground off so the new system bonds to the concrete, and the flake hides whatever colour is left in the slab.
Both driveways in the before and afters on this page started faded red and finished light grey and white.
02How long before I can drive on a newly coated driveway?
It depends on the coating and the weather, so Hagan will give you the timeline with the quote.
Plan to park on the street for that stretch. The driveway is taped off while it cures so nobody drives on it early.
03Can you do just the path, or just the driveway?
Yes. Any of it can be done on its own, and the edges are finished so the coated area meets the grass, pavers or concrete next to it neatly.
Doing the driveway and paths together is usually the way to get one matching finish across the front of the house.
